The New Face of Pickleball is 12 Years Old

If you still think pickleball is just a hobby for retirees, look again. The sport is changing fast.
USA Pickleball recently announced a massive national partnership with the Boys and Girls Clubs of America. They are bringing the game to millions of kids across the country, from age 6 all the way to 18. The goal is simple: they want to make sure every kid gets a chance to play, regardless of where they live or what their background is.
Look, Beyond Pickleball Club isn’t officially part of that specific national contract. But we are doing the exact same work right here in Eastvale. Our 14-court indoor facility is being built specifically to give this next generation a home. We want kids on our courts. We want them to own the game.
Why other sports are failing kids
Think about most youth sports. They are actually pretty annoying to learn.
In tennis, a kid might spend a month just trying to hit the ball over the net without hitting the back fence. It’s frustrating. Or look at basketball. If you aren’t the biggest or fastest kid in the gym, you might not even touch the ball for three games. That’s how kids lose interest and quit.
Pickleball is different. Because of the low barrier to entry, a kid can walk onto a court and start a real rally in about 15 minutes.
That instant success is a big deal for a kid’s confidence. It takes the stress out of trying something new. Because they can actually play the game on day one, they want to come back on day two.
It is more than just a game
It isn’t just about hitting a plastic ball. It’s about how these kids grow up. When kids play here, they pick up things they can’t get from a screen.
Social skills. In doubles, you have to talk to your partner. You can’t just stand there in silence.
Learning respect. You learn how to handle a win or a loss and still shake hands at the net.
Better health. It gets them moving and sweating without it feeling like a boring gym class.
The long game
Basically, we are looking at the next ten years.
By the time we open in August 2026, the landscape will look completely different. In a decade, these kids won’t think of this as a new sport or something for their grandparents. It will be as normal to them as soccer or baseball. It is moving away from being a social hobby and becoming a core part of how kids stay active.
We are planting the seeds for a massive forest. These kids are the future of the game. We are just making sure they have the right place to start.
